Richard C. Johnson, 82, Washougal, Wash., died Dec. 10, 2010. Funeral services were held on Dec. 15, 2010, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Camas, Wash. Burial was in Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Vancouver, Wash. Arrangements were under the direction of Straub’s Funeral Home and Columbia River Cremation, Camas.

He was born in Mount Vernon to Ernest and Bertha Johnson.
He graduated Mount Vernon High School and attended Dakota Wesleyan University, Mitchell.
He then served in the U.S. Marine Corps for two years.
In 1950, he married Doris Busmuss.
He farmed in South Dakota and, in 1952, moved to port Angeles, Wash., where he worked as a carpenter in a commercial construction. He later moved to Vancouver and opened Johnson Lumberyard, which he ran for many years.
He then built homes for 15 years in the Vancouver area.
He returned to farming in eastern Washington and farmed until retiring in 1989.
He returned to Washougal for his retirement.
He sang in the church choir, was a member of Knights of Columbus and helped with RICA and Life in the Spirit programs.
He is survived by his wife, his children: Douglas, Woodland, Wash.; David, Washougal; Steven, Albany, Ore.; and Debbie Herz, Brenda Cotton and Belinda Hickey, all of Washougal; 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
