Herman Mennenger, Onida

Herman C. Mennenger, 79, Onida, died Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010.

Private family memorial services were at Feigum Funeral Home, Pierre. Graveside services will be on March 18 at Onida Cemetery.

He was born on March 18, 1931, in Spink County to Louis John and Margaret (Hofer) Mennenger.

He was a member of United Methodist Church and Sully Legion Post No. 79.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1954, when he was honorably discharged.

He moved to Sully County and worked for Lyle Hunsley until he moved to town.

On Aug. 7, 1960, he married Margaret Weischedel.

He is survived by three children: Renee Nicholson and husband Brian, Mitchell; Angela Seitz and husband Mark, Artesian; and Rodney and wife Rory, Onida; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and three siblings: Dennis and wife Pat; Juanita Kleschka and husband Tom; and Rita Rassmussen.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Jeffrey; his parents, two brothers and his mother- and father-in-law: Fred and Mary Weischedel.
