Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. James Catholic Church, Chamberlain. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Chamberlain. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the church with a 7 p.m. Scripture service.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hickey Funeral Chapel, Chamberlain.
He was born on Jan. 29, 1918, on the family homestead south of Hamill to Roy and Florence (Fisher) Sawyer.
He attended country school and graduate from Ideal High School.
He moved to Washington and worked until 1946, when he returned home to manage the Christensen Registered Herford Ranch in Hamill.
He then moved to the Reis Ranch in 1962 and remained there until his death.
He spent his entire life farming and ranching. He raised Hereford cattle for many years.
He was a lifetime member of Winner Elks Lodge.
He is survived by his family: Peggy Reis, David Reis and wife Brenda, all of Oacoma; and Brad Reis and wife Carolyn, Hamill; 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, two nieces and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Etrulla Smith; and two brothers: Robert and Russell.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
