Mildred Emmett, 90, Mitchell, died Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, at Firesteel Healthcare Center, Mitchell.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Bittner Funeral Chapel, Mitchell Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Artesian. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral chapel.
She was born on March 8, 1920, at her parents’ farm home east of Artesian, to William and Cora (Malcom) Songer.
She grew up and attended country schools near Carthage and Fedora and attended Fedora High School.
In 1937 she moved to Mitchell.
On Sept. 4, 1938, she married Walton Emmett.
They moved to Iowa in 1940 and in November 1957 they moved to Artesian.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church where she served as secretary of the church board for 25 years and held other offices in the Methodist Church for many years.
She was the finance officer for Artesian for 12 years; secretary of the Mount Pleasant Cemetery Association for 20 years and a member of the O.D.O Club for 35 years.
She is survived by her son, Ronald and wife Mona, Mitchell; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1994; a great-grandson; her parents; four brothers; and two sisters.
