George Harris Shanard III, 57, Minnetonka, Minn., died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010, at his home of natural causes.
George Harris Shanard III, 57, Minnetonka, Minn., died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010, at his home of natural causes.
Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, Bridgewater. Burial will be in Bridgewater City Cemetery, Bridgewater.
Walter Funeral Home, Bridgewater, is assisting with arrangements.
He was born on Sept. 8, 1953, in Mitchell to George and Iris (Achenbach) Shanard.
He was educated in Bridgewater Public Schools and the former Sioux Falls College.
On Sept. 9, 1978, he married Carol Ann Brown.
He worked in Minneapolis for Creamettes and later at Super-Valu until ill health prompted his retirement.
He is survived by his mother, Bridgewater; his father, Mitchell; three sisters: Laurie Shanard, Burlington, Vt.; Kari Shanard-Koender, Sioux Falls; and Heidi Neuhart, Bridgewater; nieces, nephews, stepchildren, aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Neva Shanard; his grandparents, a brother-in-law, Gregory Koenders; and aunts and uncles.
