Norma Arlene Larson, 83, Yankton, died Friday, Jan. 22, 2010, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton.

Norma Arlene Larson, 83, Yankton, died Friday, Jan. 22, 2010, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Trinity Lutheran Church, Yankton, with the Rev. David Lund officiating. Burial will be in Meckling Cemetery, Meckling. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Wintz & Ray Funeral Home, Yankton, is in charge of arrangements.

She was born on Jan. 25, 1926, in Vermillion to Roy and Mary (Nelson) Piersol.

She graduated from University High School in Vermillion in 1944.

On Feb. 2, 1957, she married Kenneth “Gene” Larson in South Sioux City, Neb.

They lived in rural Gayville and farmed on the place where her husband grew up. They retired in the late 1980s and moved to Yankton a few years later.

She is survived by two children: Steve and wife Kathi, Yankton; and Charlie and wife Vicki, Mitchell; three grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, three sisters: Margie Stengle, Yankton; Corinne Callahan, Phoenix; and Ruth Neer, Fresno, Calif.; and a brother-in-law, Bob Larson and wife Margaret, Sioux City, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her husband on April 4, 2006; her parents, a brother, Ralph Piersol; and three sisters: Florence and Elsie Piersol and Dorothy Christensen.
