Ruth Louise Christensen, 97, Dell Rapids, died Friday, Dec. 25, 2009, at Terrace Manor Nursing Home, Dell Rapids.Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Forestburg Lutheran Church, Forestburg. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Artesian. Visitation will begin at noon Wednesday at Kahler Funeral Home, Dell Rapids, with the family present at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume two hours prior to the service Thursday at the church.

She was born on Nov. 4, 1912, in Yankton County, to August and Emma (Steinbach) Kundert.
She grew up south of Forestburg and graduated from Forestburg High School in 1930.
She worked at Wilder’s General Store in Forestburg.
On March 31, 1936, she married Carl Christensen at her parents’ farm.
They farmed in the Forestburg area until retiring in 1975. They remained on the farm until 1983 when her husband entered a nursing home and she moved to Mitchell.
Her husband died in 1985.
She was a member of Forestburg Lutheran Church and involved in the women’s group of the church.
She lived in Mitchell until 1997 when she moved to Dell Rapids to an apartment and then to Friendship Village. She later moved to Orchard Hills Assisted Living facility until June of this year when she became a resident at Terrace Manor Nursing Home.
She is survived by a son, Chris and wife Sherry, San Antonio, Texas; daughters: Lynette Cubbage, Tacoma, Wash.; Linda Johnson and husband Earl, Dell Rapids; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and three sisters.
