Harold “Hal” Wagner, 85, Mitchell, died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at Select Specialties Hospital, Sioux Falls.
Harold “Hal” Wagner, 85, Mitchell, died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at Select Specialties Hospital, Sioux Falls.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Will Funeral Chapel, Mitchell. Burial will be in American Legion Cemetery, Mitchell. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Will Funeral Chapel, Mitchell, with a 7 p.m. prayer service.
He was born on July 21, 1924, in Fedora to Louis and Ella (Holmes) Wagner.
He attended school in Fedora.
After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the Army in March 1943. He served with Company C, 220th Armored Engineer Division in Germany during World War II. He was honorably discharged on Feb. 12, 1946.
He had been a member of VFW and American Legion for 49 years.
On Aug. 5, 1961, he married Nancy Sells in Richmond, Ind., and they made their home in Mitchell.
He spent a lifetime in the aviation field.
He is survived by his wife, two sisters-in-law: Peggy Sells, Winter Park, Fla.; and Grace Ann Rodel and husband Mike, Richmond; two nieces, three grandnieces and one grandnephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
