Viola ‘June’ Larson, Wessington Springs

Viola “June” Larson, 83, Wessington Springs, died Monday, Oct. 12, 2009, at Weskota Manor/Avera Health.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at United Church of Christ with the Rev. Sarah Dean officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church with a 7 p.m. prayer/Order of the Eastern Star service.

Viola “June” Larson, 83, Wessington Springs, died Monday, Oct. 12, 2009, at Weskota Manor/Avera Health.

She was born on Aug. 2, 1928, in Stickney to Henry and Elvira (Nelson) Bult.

She graduated from Wessington Springs High School in 1944.

She later attended Wessington Springs College and received her teacher’s certificate.

She taught for many years at Madden Country School.

On Dec. 23, 1948, she married L.A. Larson at Armour.

She cared for children for more than 40 years.

She was a member of United Church of Christ, UCC Women’s Fellowship, American Legion Auxiliary, Eight & Forty, Sing and Sew Extension Club and Vesper Chapter 81 of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by seven children: Gary and wife Lydia, Japan; Roger, Kelly and wife Connie; and Connie Ness, all of Wessington Springs; Donna Harmdierks, Huron; and Vicki Jensen and husband Steve; and Peggi Jensen and husband Craig, all of Alpena; 17 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Ramona Bult, Tempe, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 2000, her parents and a brother, Bob Bult.
