Harris William Schwagerl, 86, Presho, formerly of Browns Valley, Minn., died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009.Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Presho Lutheran Church, Presho. Private family services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, at Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton. Burial, with military rites, will be in Hope Lutheran Cemetery, Summit.

He was born on June 19, 1923, at Browns Valley to Frank and Josephine (Glensinger) Schwagerl.
He grew up and attended school at Browns Valley.
After his education, he served in the U.S. Army from March 4, 1943, until March 9, 1946. He was awarded the European-African Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon with four bronze campaign stars, American Theatre Ribbon, World War II Victory Ribbon and the Good Conduct Ribbon.
After his discharge, he was married and worked for Burlington-Northern Railroad as a foreman for 40 years.
His wife, Esther, died in 1990.
On Sept. 5, 1992, he married Bethel Judish-Finnesand at Sisseton.
He is survived by his wife, two stepdaughters: Kristy Cavenah and husband Glen, Rapid City; and Julie Smith and husband Matt, Vivian; and two stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, his parents, two sisters: Velma Bierschbach and Clarice Lattig; and a brother, Adrian.
