Odella McDonald, Emmett, Idaho

Odella Agnes McDonald, 91, Emmett, Idaho, formerly of Mitchell, died Monday, Aug. 3, 2009.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Mitchell. Burial will be in Servicemen’s Memorial Cemetery, Mitchell. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Bittner Funeral Chapel, Mitchell, with a 7 p.m. Scripture service.

Odella Agnes McDonald, 91, Emmett, Idaho, formerly of Mitchell, died Monday, Aug. 3, 2009.

She was born on April 28, 1918, in Artesian, to Walter and Emma Moody.

She graduated from Forestburg in 1935.

She began teaching in the Artesian area at age 18.

She was also a speech therapist and member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society.

She taught in several schools in South Dakota including Letcher, Cuthbert and Forestburg. She also taught in Simi Valley, Calif.

She retired from teaching at Litchfield School in Mitchell in 1980 after 16 years there.

She married Monte Johnson in August 1937.

He died in 1957.

In August 1960 she married Clarence McDonald.

He died in January 2001.

She is survived by her children: Sherry Giddings; and Gary Johnson, both of Emmett; and James McDonald, Minneapolis, Minn.; four granddaughters; and many great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by both her husbands; a son, Randy Johnson; her parents; and her siblings: Margaret Burns; Emma Jopp; Mona Cross; Ralph Moody; Monte Moody; Lawrence Moody; and Charlie Moody.
