Evelyn Hohn, Palmyra, Ill.

Evelyn Marie Hohn, 40, Palmyra, Ill., died Thursday, July 23, 2009, at her home in Palmyra. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at McColley’s Chapel of the Hills, Hot Springs, with Jerry Wyatt and the Rev. Bill Martin officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Hot Springs. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Evelyn Marie Hohn, 40, Palmyra, Ill., died Thursday, July 23, 2009, at her home in Palmyra.

She was born on Oct. 5, 1968, at Spearfish to John Schrader and Faye Rene (Wortham) Schrader.

She was raised by her aunt and uncle, Donna and Roland March.

She graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1986.

She went to college in Sioux Falls for court reporting.

On May 25, 1996, she married Darwin Hohn in Sioux Falls.

They later divorced.

She competed and won in regional rodeos and qualified for the National High School Rodeo.

She also competed in college rodeo and in the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association, winning 1998 WPRA Divisional Tour Champion, 2000 Badlands Circuit Finals Champion, 2001 Rodeo Royal Champion, Calgary, Alberta, Canada; 2002 Badlands, Circuit Champion, 2002 Badlands Circuit Finals Champion, 2002 Dodge National Circuit Finals Reserve Champion, 2007 PWBR Circuit Finals, 2008 Great Lakes Circuit Finalists, eight-time WPRA Divisional Tour Champion, eight-time Badlands Circuit Finals Qualifier and two-time Dodge National Circuit Finals Qualifier.

She is survived by three sisters: Deb Wilkison and husband Ron, Roseburg, Ore.; Darcy Popescu and husband Brian, Hot Springs; and Mary Weiss and husband Jonas, Hot Springs; a brother, John Schrader and wife Rhonda, Ruthton, Minn.; her grandmother, Shirley Wortham, Hot Springs; and aunts and uncles.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandfather, Jack Wortham; a grandmother, Delores Petty; and an uncle.
