Leland Leonard “Bud” Larson, 85, Mitchell, formerly of Pukwana, died Sunday, June 7, 2009, at his home in Mitchell.Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at United Church of Christ, Chamberlain. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Chamberlain. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hickey-Wevik Funeral Chapel, Chamberlain, with the family present from 6 to 7 p.m.

He was born on Jan. 22, 1924, on a farm near Pukwana to John and Laurel (LaVoy) Larson.
He grew up north of Pukwana and graduated from Pukwana High School.
He served two years in the U.S. Army in the Pacific.
He farmed and worked for Priebe Construction and Brule County Landfill.
On July 14, 1950, he married Joyce Jacobs at Lutheran Church, Kimball.
He was a member of Pukwana Lutheran Free Church and Pukwana American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, four children: Leland J., Sioux Falls; Ladonna, Kadoka; Nova Griss and husband Jack, Pukwana; and Doris Christiansen and husband Kim, Bismarck, N.D.; five grandchildren, sisters- and brothers-in-law: Bernice Borman, Vernon Jacobs and wife Connie, Howard Jacobs and wife Vivian, Marcia Jacobs and Joan Juntunen; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters: Evelyn Houska, Dorothy Merwin and Norma Dill; six brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law.
