Margaret Dulitz, Webster

Margaret Ruth Dulitz, 80, Webster, died May 18, 2009, at her home south of Webster.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 Wednesday at the United Methodist Church, Webster, with the Rev. Dr. John Hisel officiating. Her ashes will be committed at Webster Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Coester Funeral Home, Webster, with a 7 p.m. service.

Margaret Ruth Dulitz, 80, Webster, died May 18, 2009, at her home south of Webster.

She was born Jan. 17, 1929, to Edward and Merle (Speelman) Herbst in Davison County.

She attended rural school Baker No. 39 for eight years and graduated from Mitchell High School and Augustana College in Sioux Falls.

After graduating from Augustana, she taught as a missionary at the Hongo Student Center near Tokyo University. After 10 years of Lutheran ministry in Japan, she returned to South Dakota and taught high school in Baltic.

She married Wesley Dulitz of rural Webster.

Over the years she taught and later led the Sunday school and Vacation Bible School programs at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Webster, where she was a member of the church council.

Starting in 2001, she worked with the Day County Arts Council, designing the Webster Mural Garden, editing the book “Echoes and Reflections,” organizing the Many Nations Festival and serving as president.

She is survived by her husband; her son, Daniel and wife Alice, Palo Alto, Calif.; her sisters: Virginia Wilcox, Rio Rancho, N.M.; Carroll Van Dyke, Seaside, Ore.; Helen Stormo and husband Charles, Hayti; and Ramona Neidlinger, San Antonio, Texas.

Memorials may be given in her honor to the Tree of Life Ministry or the Endowment Fund of the Day County Arts Council, contact the church for more information.
