Jay Franklin Pearsall, 79, Wood, died Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Pierre, of diabetes and cancer.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Wood Community Hall, Wood. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Wood. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Mason Funeral Home, Winner, with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service.

He was born on Feb. 21, 1930, in Lynch, Neb., to Archie and Marjorie (Carter) Pearsall.
He attended the Burns School and graduated from Wood High School in 1948.
He then attended Spearfish College (Black Hills State) for two years.
On May 11, 1950, he married Darlene Lookabill.
He was a lifelong farmer and rancher.
He was a member of Eastern Star, Masons, Shriners, Elks, Consistory (Scottish Rite) and a former FSA board member in White River.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters: Donna Andresen and husband Rick, Grand Island, Neb.; and Sandra Meyers and husband Orville, Wood; a daughter-in-law, Arla Pearsall, Winner; five grandchildren, a brother, Bobby and wife Shirley, Washington; two sisters: Margie Bechtold and husband Buzzy, Sioux Falls; and Lilly Pearsall, Slidell, La.; two sisters-in-law: Berniece Hansen and Helen Lookabill, both of Winner; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Richard; his parents, a brother, Russell; five sisters-in-law and six brothers-in-law.
