Demolition of the stadium at Joe Quintal Field in Mitchell began in earnest Thursday as workers removed the press box and began tearing down walls. The 69-year-old structure will be replaced by a new stadium, which school district officials hope to have ready by the first home football game next season. The school board expects to spend about $2.9 million on the demolition of the old stadium and construction of the new one.
