Hanson High School alumnus Troy Gust, a neurosurgeon at Sanford Medical Center, Sioux Falls, chats Friday with Darlene and Darwin Peterson in the new Hanson Area Community Library during the facility’s grand opening. Darwin Peterson was school superintendent from 1980 to 2002 and Troy’s mother, Sherian Gust, was Peterson’s administrative assistant. The library’s new community room was dedicated in her honor. Following dedication ceremonies attended by students and community members in the school gym, Gust, a major donor, cut the ribbon officially opening the $1.3 million library. (Ross Dolan/ Republic)
