Cattle are sorted into pens Thursday morning at Mitchell Livestock Auction as 7,000 head were expected to be sold. While Mitchell Livestock Auction co-owner Don Stange said it was a large sale, it was about 1,500 short of being the biggest sale of the year. Stange said he is seeing a lot of producers selling calves early to keep feed for the cows. The sale next week is expected to attract 6,000 head. (Chris Huber/Republic)
