Char Price, who’s ridden in many a rodeo, made the trip from rural Haakon County to the state Capitol on Friday aboard her horse Drifter to show her support for keeping the state laws requiring brand inspections of horses and mules in western South Dakota. The Senate was scheduled to consider the measure later that afternoon, but decided to hold the reins on a pair of bills until Monday. Price “parked” in the 30-minute zone just outside the window of the governor’s office. The repeal of the horse and mule inspections requirement is backed by Gov. Dennis Daugaard and the state Brand Board. (Bob Mercer/Republic)
