Mitchell crèche

This was one of the crèches, or nativity scenes, on display Saturday and Sunday during the Christmas Crèches, Goodness Gracious event at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Mitchell. The display included nativity sets from multiple countries and cultures, including a statue from Holland and a Coke can rendering of Jesus, Mary and Joseph from Africa. The Christmas nativity tradition started with St. Francis of Assisi in 1223. (Candy DenOuden/Republic)
