SUNDAY NIGHTCAP: Jared Donahue

Canova’s Jared Donahue throws a pitch during a second-round game of the Class B state amateur tournament Sunday night at Sioux Falls Stadium. The defending state champion Gang came from behind to beat the Dell Rapids Mudcats 11-6 in a game that ended at 1:44 a.m. Monday. “I don’t think anyone pushed the panic button. We had to come behind in a lot of games to go all the way last year, and we came from behind in the first game this year too,” said Canova’s Jason Miller, who threw three scoreless innings in relief to pick up the win. “Unless they were ahead by six-to-10 runs, that’s the only time we would have pushed the panic button. We knew we would be fine.” The Gang faces Dimock-Emery in a third-round game at 6 p.m. Thursday.
