Kernel girls can claim ESD title today

With a win today, the Mitchell girls’ basketball team will become the Eastern South Dakota Conference champion. The No. 1-ranked Kernels (16-1) have an 11-0 conference record heading into today’s 2 p.m. matchup against Brookings (2-14, 2-9 ESD) at the Dakota Wesleyan Classic at the Corn Palace. The Kernels have already earned at least a share of the conference title, but a win today would give them the ESD title outright.
