OPINION: Fans treasure baseballs, no matter the risk or reward

My friend Ted still has the baseball. Ted treasures it, wouldn’t give it up. It’s just a baseball, round with slightly elevated stitches. He picked it up in 1986, so it’s a little faded by now, but the signatures — Pete Rose, Dave Parker and, strangely enough, Pete Axthelm, are still legible.
