Area referee suffers heart attack at halftime
A well-known area referee, umpire and former amateur baseball player suffered a heart attack Thursday night at halftime of a basketball game he was officiating. Dan Sudbeck, of Dimock, was taking a break from officiating the O’Gorman-Yankton girls’ basketball game in Sioux Falls on Thursday night, O’Gorman Athletic Director Steve Kueter said. During halftime, Sudbeck slumped in his chair and suffered a heart attack in the officials’ room at 8:15 p.m.By: Melanie Brandert, The Daily Republic
