Plankinton native named president of Komen group

A Plankinton High School alumna is making her mark in the fight against breast cancer with her recent appointment as president of Susan G. Komen for the Cure in Dallas, Texas. Liz Thompson is helping to guide research efforts in the hopes of someday finding a cure and is energized by the future, especially the next 10 years. “We are seeing new answers come to light in a new way,” Thompson said. “I’m not sure we will completely have a cure for every form of breast cancer by 2020, but I think we will have much bigger progress.”
