Mitchell sets record for rain in July

Another day, another downpour. More than 3 inches of rain fell in Mitchell Thursday night and Friday morning, shattering the local record of rain in July, according to Shawn Liebl, a National Weather Service meteorologist in Sioux Falls. The new record is 10.22 inches, topping the old mark of 9.81 inches set in 1993.
