Reach out a hand to neighbors, strangers To the Editor: For those who read history, it seems likely the USA now is in the early stages of economic collapse. We and our leaders stand stunned, transfixed by the approaching locomotive’s headlight. Falling into this new depression will open us to an era of economic austerity, political despotism and increased social violence. But also there is much potential for good ahead.
