New board organized for township, leader says

The new Mitchell Township board is up and running and feeling its way, said Mark Schilling, who was elected township board chairman and supervisor at a Tuesday organizational meeting.
Also elected were the following officers: Chad Van Laecken, supervisor; Jack Docken, supervisor; Karen Pooley, clerk; and Stuart Barns, treasurer.
“It went as well as we could expect,” said Schilling, who added there were numerous questions about the housework of re-establishing a township.
