McNamara, defense chief during Vietnam War, dies

WASHINGTON (AP) — Robert S. McNamara, the cerebral secretary of defense vilified for his role in escalating the Vietnam War, a disastrous conflict he later denounced as “terribly wrong,” died Monday. He was 93.
