‘We were poor’ during ’30s, Parkston resident recallsPARKSTON — Life was tough in the 1930s, said Harold Tiede, but his family was used to tough.
The Great Depression just added a few extra bumps.
Tiede, whose 90th birthday is today, was raised on a farm four miles south of Parkston. There was no question about his family’s economic status.
