Opinion: Kids? Who cares?

The percentage of Americans who think you need to have kids to be happily married has nosedived. In 1990, 65 percent of those questioned said children were “very important” to a good marriage. Today, just 41 percent believe that. One obvious reason for the decline is that, frankly, the tradeoffs have gotten much better: Baby or Beamer? Kid or cottage? Infant or iPhone?
