Opinion: Carp making waves as giant jumping fish makes way northward

I’ve seen the video. It’s both amazing and terrifying. A television reporter, with camera crew in tow, heads off in a boat in search of giant Asian carp, a fish that is making its way upstream in large rivers like the Mississippi and the Missouri. The fish looks like a regular carp — large, rather gray-orange body, tiny mouth — but it’s becoming famous for its jumping ability. We’re talking about several feet here, and high enough to easily land in your boat. Or in the case of the news clip I saw on the Internet recently, high enough to stun a news reporter.
