Officers receive cards for efforts in tragedy

Sometimes, a thank you can mean a lot — especially when it’s from those who matter most, an area sheriff says. The days following the deaths of Trevor Doering, 9, and Deanna Mogck, 13, were filled with reflection by many of those who tried to save the children, said Hanson County Sheriff Mark Kessler. The two children died after they were abducted by their father, Lyle Doering, 42. All three died. Doering’s 17-year-old stepdaughter, Angela Mogck, survived the crash.
