Lemon lovers rejoice

It was always this time of year when one of my mom’s good friends would make the first lemon cake of the season. It wasn’t because the recipe called for seasonal ingredients. It was because the fresh, tart taste of lemon was the perfect partner for sunny spring days, the fragrance of blooming lilacs and the scent of green grass.
