Our View: Don’t exhaust a S.D. resource
The land of plenty? It sure seems like it lately in South Dakota. Pheasant hunters in 2006 bagged 1.85 million birds, a harvest that wasn’t as good as the 1.96 million in 2005 but still second best in the state since 1963. Pheasants, of course, are the cash cow of South Dakota’s wild game, with 178,000 hunters taking to the fields last year. They bring in millions of dollars to the state’s economy.
