Opinion: South Dakota Editorial Roundup
The National Drought Mitigation Center has reported that the drought in parts of the Upper Midwest is retreating. The Upper Missouri River Basin states, however, are still in its grip and that could spell trouble for the Missouri River and its reservoirs. Drought has plagued the Dakots and much of the West and Southwest for the past several years. Now, it appears, at least in some of those areas the drought is lessening its grip. The eastern halves of the Dakotas and Nebraska are now considered to be out of the drought as are most of Minnesota and Nebraska and that’s good news for all parties involved.
