Local gas stations inspected during past 2 years
State officials say the files that contain records of gas pump inspections are too voluminous to compile statewide statistics, but The Daily Republic was able to obtain numbers for the last full round of inspections in Mitchell. During the past two years in Mitchell, inspections were conducted on all of the 434 pumps at all 21 facilities in the city. Two pumps failed — one at the Cenex C-Store on South Burr Street, and one at the Freedom station on South Sanborn Boulevard. The Cenex pump was delivering too much extra fuel, and the Freedom pump was delivering too little. The state did not provide the exact amounts by which the pumps were out of tolerance.By: Seth Tupper, The Daily Republic
