Stickney putting up fight in population war

It will take more than unpleasant population projections to convince Stickney residents that their town, like many others in the area, could be in trouble. While the South Dakota State Data Center recently estimated that Aurora County’s population will experience a 9.1 percent drop between 2000 and 2025, residents say they’re confident the town they call home isn’t ready to call it quits. “We will try to think of things to do to get people to move here,” said Charlotte Brown, owner of Brown Insurance in Stickney. “We don’t want to see our town fold up.”
