Our View: Subsidies need transparency

Millions of dollars in government money is handed out each year in the form of agriculture subsidies, a practice that has helped produce consistency in a very unpredictable industry. But as the program — in existence since early in the 20th century — ages, it has become apparent that it’s not that easy to track who, exactly, is receiving the money.
