Deb Olson filed a petition Wednesday to run for a seat on the Mitchell Board of Education, and the signatures on the petition were verified.

That makes Olson the fourth candidate to file for two at-large seats on the Mitchell school board. Those seats are held by Brenda Freidel and Eric Christensen, both of whom have decided not to seek re-election.

Olson formerly worked as principal at L.B. Williams Elementary School in Mitchell. The other candidates are retired legislator and former school board member Rod Hall; former mayoral candidate Tara Volesky; and retail store manager Rick Johnson.

Candidates have until 5 p.m. Tuesday to file for the June 4 election. Twenty signatures from registered voters within the district are needed to file a candidacy.
