Two Mitchell men arrested in local drug bust

Jared Nespor, 24, and Casey Nespor, 18, face felony marijuana charges.

Two Mitchell men were arrested Tuesday and charged with numerous marijuana-related crimes.

Jared Nespor, 24, is charged with one count of possession of more than 1 pound of marijuana, a felony with a maximum punishment of 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine. He is also charged with possession of more than 1 pound of marijuana with the intent to distribute, a felony with a maximum punishment of 15 years in prison and a $30,000 fine.

Casey Nespor, 18, is charged with possession of more than 2 ounces of marijuana, a felony with a maximum punishment of 2 years in prison and a $4,000 fine. He is also charged with distribution of more than 1 ounce of marijuana, a felony with a maximum punishment of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Jared Nespor was also arrested Jan. 23 on other drug charges after more than 5 pounds of marijuana and various items of drug paraphernalia were found by law enforcement in his residence.

The Mitchell Police Division, South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation, South Dakota Highway Patrol, and sheriff’s offices from Davison, Sanborn, Aurora and Hanson counties were all involved in the investigation.
