One week after Crystal Schulz’s body was found, nobody is charged with killing her.

Authorities are still investigating what they’ve called the homicide of Schulz, a Mitchell woman who was found dead March 14 in a shed in rural Chamberlain.

Authorities apprehended Kent Davidson, 36, on Friday after a standoff in Sioux Falls and have said they are questioning him regarding the homicide. Davidson and Schulz each listed themselves as being engaged to each other on their Facebook pages. Facebook posts also indicate they met in October, the same month Davidson walked away from a minimum security transitional facility in Rapid City.

Davidson was arrested for the walkaway and is still being held on that charge. Sara Rabern, spokeswoman for the state Attorney General’s Office, said in an email to The Daily Republic this week that “additional charges are still anticipated.”

Davidson was being held at the Minnehaha County Jail but is now at the state penitentiary in Sioux Falls. According to the central records office at the state Department of Corrections, Davidson is back in prison because of the walkaway, which was a parole violation. All parole violators have hearings scheduled after they are placed back in DOC custody. A date for his hearing has not been scheduled.
