SD state spelling bee to be held this weekend

The South Dakota State Spelling Bee will be held Saturday at the University of South Dakota.

RAPID CITY (AP) — Eleven South Dakota students will compete this weekend for a trip to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C.

The South Dakota State Spelling Bee will be held Saturday at the University of South Dakota.

The media reports that the competition features 11 students who qualified as top spellers in different regions of the state.

The winner of Saturday's competition will advance to the national event to be held May 26-31.
