PIERRE — Museums, libraries and archives are filled with items of historical value, but how secure are they from disaster?

The Dakota Collections Care Initiative seeks to find out. The DCCI has set up disaster preparedness workshops beginning in late April for museums, libraries and archives.

The South Dakota State Historical Society, in partnership with the State Historical Society of North Dakota and the Association of South Dakota Museums, are collaborating on the effort.

South Dakota workshops are scheduled in Aberdeen on May 13-14 and again on Aug. 12; Brookings on May 15-16 and Aug. 13; Pierre on May 20-21 and Aug. 14; and Deadwood on May 22-23 and again on Aug. 15.
