Three of four declared Mitchell Board of Education candidates have filed the necessary petitions.

All are vying for two at-large seats on the school board that will be vacated by current board members Brenda Freidel and Eric Christensen. Both have chosen not to run for re-election.

Candidates Tara Volesky and Rod Hall returned their election petitions on Friday, confirmed district Business Manager Steve Culhane, and all collected signatures have been verified.

Candidate Rick Johnson returned his petition Tuesday and his signatures have also been cleared, Culhane said.

“They are all officially candidates,” he said.

Deb Olson, a former school administrator in the district, informed Culhane’s office that she will return her election petitions sometime today.

Candidates have until 5 p.m. Tuesday to file for the June 4 election. Twenty signatures from registered voters within the district are needed to file a candidacy.
