Catching up: Rew scores career high on senior night for ASU

Arizona State University senior Amelia Rew marked a career high on uneven bars with a score of 9.850, helping the Sun Devils to a new team-high 49.225 on the event on senior night Friday.
Rew, a Mitchell native, is one of two seniors in the line-up for ASU. After an inquiry into the final score after the floor routine, the Sun Devils score was adjusted to a 196.025, putting the Sun Devels over the 196 mark for the first time since 2009. ASU topped the Bridgeport Knights 196.025-195.75 on the day.
Rew and the Sun Devils will compete again on March 23 when they travel to Corvallis, Ore. for the Pac-12 Championships. The meet will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Network with the first session beginning at 3:30 p.m. Central time.
- Ryan Buck, a sophomore infielder for the Mount Marty College baseball team, was 1-for-3 from behind the plate with one RBI and four putouts in a 10-9 win over Minot State on Friday in Tucson, Ariz.
Buck, a Mitchell native, had at least one hit in seven of the Lancers’ nine games in Tucson March 9-15. Buck is batting .333 for Mount Marty (6-12) with four RBIs.
The Lancers host a pair of games at 1 p.m. today against Mayville State in Yankton.
- Salem native and Augustana junior Brian Duxbury was 1-for-3 with one run Friday in a 10-4 win over Dakota Wesleyan at Ronken Field in Sioux Falls.
Duxbury has appeared in 11 games for Augustana (10-9) this season, recording 11 hits, eight runs, two RBIs and three stolen bases.
The Vikings begin their conference season on Saturday when Minnesota Duluth comes to Sioux Falls.
n Nick Young, a sophomore right-handed pitcher for the South Dakota State University baseball team, has appeared in two games for the Jackrabbits so far this season. Young, a Mitchell native, has given up one hit and one run and has recorded one strikeout.
SDSU (10-7) travels to Greeley, Colo., Mar. 29-31 to take on Northern Colorado in three games in three days.
- Parkston graduate and South Dakota State University sprinter Luke Leischner was
named to the Summit League All-Academic team, it was announced Feb. 28.
Leischner, a redshirt senior for the Jackrabbits, is a Wildlife and Fisheries major and the
only member of the men’s track and field team to earn All-Academic honors.
SDSU begins its outdoor season on Mar.22 when it travels to Columbia, Mo., for the
Missouri Relays.
