Mitchell students participate in Iowa college scholarship day

Northwestern College of Orange City hosts students from 18 states.

ORANGE CITY, IOWA — Adam Bleeker, of Mitchell, a senior at Mitchell Christian High School; Ellie Kenkel, of Mitchell, a senior at Mitchell High School; Katie Reynen, of Mitchell, a senior at Mitchell Christian High School; and Brittany Zoss, of Letcher, a senior at Mitchell Christian High School, were among the more than 200 outstanding high school students, representing 18 states, to participate in a Northwestern College Scholarship Day.

Students participated in interviews and a writing competition throughout January and February. Northwestern College faculty, staff and students evaluated them on the basis of their potential for academic success, leadership and effective Christian service.

The participating students have already qualified for Northwestern College honor scholarships, based on ACT scores and class rank or grade point average, and were competing for additional funding to their Presidential or Collegiate scholarships. The top eight Presidential Scholarship winners will be designated Norman Vincent Peale Scholars and receive $74,000 over four years of study at Northwestern.
