MOUNT VERNON: Students attend Coyote Jazz Festival

The following students attended the University of South Dakota Coyote Jazz Festival held in Vermillion March 14: Caitlyn Dikoff, Stephanie Goldammer, Kelsey Hanson, Natasha Lammey, Abigail Mahaffey, Danielle Stoltz, Jazmin Waite, Trevor Ferrell, Johnathan Sweet, Jakob Tovsland, Olympia Amiday, Alaina Bertsch, Haley Hinker, Shaniya Johnson, Jordyn Martin, Savannah Roberts and Brooke Winter.

Activities for the week of March 18–25 include:

Tuesday is a student enrichment/staff development day. The CBH/Cornbelt Boys’ and Girls’ All Star Basketball Game will be held.

Wednesday the Large Group Music Contest will be held at the Chamberlain High School. The mixed chorus will perform at 8:50 a.m., the band at 1 p.m. and the girls’ chorus at 2:20 p.m.

Potluck supper

The Mount Vernon American Legion Auxiliary is hosting a potluck supper for the American Legion’s birthday at 6 p.m. on Friday. All Legion and Auxiliary members and their families are invited to attend.

After Prom

The After Prom Committee is bringing in a magician/illusionist for the community and surrounding areas to enjoy. All ages are welcome. He has performed for other local schools and they have enjoyed him tremendously. Check it out at http://www.RezaLive.com. His performance will be on March 23 at 9:30 p.m., which is right after the grand march in the old Mount Vernon gym. Ticket prices are $10 for 13 and older, $5 for 12 and under and free for 6 and under.

Easter egg hung

Westy’s is hosting an Easter egg hunt at 10:30 a.m. on March 29. The Easter bunny will be there, and lots of prizes for the kids. Recommended ages are up to 10 years old, but no one will be turned away. There will be a drawing for boys’ and girls’ Easter baskets as well, full of fun stuff that will be given away after the egg hunt.
