Time extended to vote for Cornelius

Voting for the regional round of USA Today’s High School Sports Best Mascot competition, which features Mitchell High School’s Cornelius, has been extended.
Due to high traffic on the website, USA Today has extended the regional round voting period through 2 p.m. Wednesday.
Voters will be able to choose from the six regional winners starting at 10 a.m. March 21 through 2 p.m. March 27.
Cornelius, which won a state competition to advance to the regional round, had received 14,897 votes as of Thursday afternoon. That placed the MHS mascot far behind some mascots with millions of votes in other states.
