RAPID CITY — Members of the Mitchell Powerlifting Club by Fitness World competed in the USAPL South Dakota State Championships last weekend in Rapid City.

Andrew Priebe won the 165-pound men’s open class for his ninth state title. He squatted 502 pounds, bench pressed 336 pounds and dead lifted 474 pounds for a 1,312-pound total. They were all state records for the 165-pound sub-masters division, which is made up of 35- to 39-year-olds.

Abe Weins won the 220-pound men’s raw class with a squat of 579 pounds, bench press of 380 pounds, dead lift of 623 pounds and totaled 1,582 pounds. This was Wein’s third state title.

Dan Cheeseman was runner-up in the 198-pound men’s raw class with a 1,196-pound total.

Alex Crawford, of Chamberlain, won the teenage men 18- and 19-year-old division. Crawford totaled 1,356 pounds.

Twice the Ice Fundraiser event to be held Sunday

An exhibition game between the Mitchell Marlin coaches and varsity girls and boys hockey players is set for 2 p.m. Sunday at the Mitchell Activities Center as a part of the Twice the Ice Fundraiser.

The fundraiser is to support the construction of a second sheet of indoor ice for Mitchell and is sponsored by the Mitchell Skating and Hockey Association.

Entry is free-will donation and the event will include raffles, drawings, shoot-out competitions and concessions.
